What does ‘SCM’ stand for?
SCM stand for Somebody Cares Ministries.
Is SCM a faith-based organization?

As SCM’s mission statement says “God’s Church, the body of believers empowered with His Love and Compassion will act by becoming “Repairers of Walls” – the walls of our communities – by reaching out to the poor the vulnerable, the marginalized, the orphan, the widow and to those affected and infected by the HIV & AIDS pandemic”
Where is Malawi?
Malawi, known as “The Warm Heart of Africa”, is located in southeastern Africa bordering Mozambique, Zambia, and Tanzania.

What do I need to do before I volunteer?
- Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months past your DEPARTURE date from Malawi
- Ensure your immunizations are up-to-date, including Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid and Hepatitis A. Yellow fever immunization may be required only by visitors entering from a yellow fever zone. The CDC has a complete list of recommendations for Malawi.
- Discuss with your doctor the Malaria prevention that is best for you.

When is the best time to come and volunteer at SCM?
May – October is the best time of year to come as it is mostly the dry season making it possible to reach the rural communities SCM partners with.
